How to change the content of a PLR ebook to make it your own
Firstly, find a Private Label Rights ebook on the subject you want to
promote, e.g. Listbuilding, Autoresponders etc.
Download it to your desktop and open the .zip file. Inside you should
find a ‘Word’ version of the ebook as well as the .pdf version.
It’s actually easier to create your own ebook by using Open Office.
This is basically the same as Microsoft Office but the text editing
(Word) part of it allows you to transform what you’ve written into a
.pdf ebook by clicking one button. If you want to create a .pdf ebook
from Microsoft Word you have to download extra software. Open Office,
by the way, is Free.
Once you’ve opened the text version of the plr ebook, Change The
Title. Lots of other people will be using the same plr ebook but they
will be too lazy to change any of it, including the title. Set
yourself apart and do that first. Make it catchy. Change the font and
the colour.
Read the whole book and absorb what it’s saying.
Then go back and make your changes.
The first thing you may have to change is the grammar. Many PLR ebooks
are written by non-english speaking authors so the grammar may be
incorrect and some sentences won’t make sense.
Ideally you want to make sure all the grammar is correct. Now, if you
don’t like writing and you’re not good on grammar, don’t worry too
much. Your readers won’t mind a few mistakes especially if the content
is informative and easy to understand.
Try to change as many paragraphs as you can – put them into your own
words. Shorten some sentences, lengthen others. Use a thesaurus to
change a word. Delete some sentences altogether if you don’t like
them. Remember, this plr ebook is just giving you ideas for your own
ebook. You can change as much or as little of it as you like.
The important thing is to write it in your style. Some authors write
as they speak. I have a tendency to write differently to how I speak.
If I am speaking I would change that last sentence to I’ve a tendency
and I would have started this sentence with, If I’m speaking.
A Picture Paints a Thousand Words
You now need to have an ebook cover created for you. This makes your
ebook look different to anyone else’s. If it looks attractive, people
will download or buy it. It shows you’re a professional.
You can Google “ebook cover design” to find designers. Usually you’ll
pay $60 – $70 for a cover but I know of a cheaper and excellent
designer.
Finally - yes that’s it you’ve only one more step to take.
Insert your links to your website, your affiliate products, your
favourite sites or whatever.
If you look at the top of the first page of most ebooks you’ll see the
author has put their name and a link to their website.
Notice too how a lot of authors give away Master Resell Rights. This
means that the ebook is more valuable because the new owner will be
able to charge what they want and keep all the money. However, if you
look at the licence that comes with MRR ebooks the author often gives
permission for the ebook to be given away. If the new owner does that
it means that more people are going to see the book and click on the
links.
You must decide if you want to let others give it away or not.
Weave your affiliate links into the copy. I mentioned Open Office
earlier, naturally. In your ebook this could be an affiliate link.
PLR ebooks are vastly under-rated because too many people think it’s
too difficult to change them and make them their own. I hope I’ve
dispelled this myth for you.
